Experience the dynamic atmosphere of Ho Chi Minh City, the tranquil backwaters of the Mekong Delta, the hill station of Dalat, the beaches and islands of Nha Trang, the history of Hoi An, the majesty of Hue, the faded colonial elegance of Hanoi and the sheer wonder of Halong Bay. The ancient capital of Hoa Lu and the scenic sight of Tam Coc is visited before end of the trip.
Day 1: Arrival in Saigon
Arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Pick up and transfer to hotel. Check-in registration.Relax and stay overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Saigon & Cu Chi Tunnels (B)
Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Cu Chi district. Upon arrival in Cu Chi, we will start to experience ourselves the underground village of Cu Chi guerrilla fighters, the remain of a real bloody battle field which is simply a network of tunnels built during the long years of wars. The visit will be led by a VC veteran. An afternoon tour round Ho Chi Minh City, formerly called Saigon, Reunification Hall, the Binh Tay Market in Chinatown, Thien Hau Temple and a lacquer workshop. O/N in Saigon.
Day 3: Excursion to Mekong Delta (B, L)
Enjoy a full-day excursion to My Tho, 75km south of Saigon, a peaceful town on the bank of the Mekong River. The tour comprises a cruise on the Mekong River, a visit to local homes & orchards, a sampan ride on palm-shaded creeks, a taste of seasonal fruit & honey tea and a performance of traditional southern singing. Lunch of Mekong specialties is arranged. O/N in Saigon.
Day 4: Saigon - Danang - My Son - Hoi An (B)
Morning transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for short flight to Danang. Upon arrival Danang airport, pick up ans transfer to Hoi An. Enjoy a day trip to explore two World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 1999. Traveling over rural roads to My Son (50km), where architectural treasures and sculptures of Cham culture dating from the 7th to the 13th century can be explored. Back to Hoi An, a centuries-old city with ancient houses, temples, markets and handicraft workshops. O/N in Hoi An.
Day 5: Hoi An - Hue (B)
Early in the morning, transfer to Hue, widely known for its magnificent monuments built under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945). Pick up and transfer to hotel for checkin registration. In the afternoon, overland to the tombs of King Khai Dinh (ruled 1916 - 1925) and King Minh Mang (ruled 1820 - 1840) where the contrast between Oriental and Occidental architectures is shown. Take a boat ride on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, viewing rural landscape and local activities at sunset.
Day 6: Hue - Hanoi (B)
Transfer to Phu Bai airport for a short flight to Hanoi, Vietnam's capital city of tree-lined streets and centuries-old temples. Pick up and transfer to a hotel. An afternoon sightseeing tour features both cultural and historical highlights, comprising the Temple of Literature, the Ethnology Museum, the old. The sightseeing day ends with a water puppet show, a theatrical genre reflecting the agricultural civilization of thousands of years ago. O/N in Hanoi.
Day 7: Excursion to Halong Bay (B, L)
Enjoy a day excursion to Halong, 170km from Hanoi. Board a private boat for a cruise in Halong Bay (4 hours), a World Heritage site recognized by UNESCO in 1994. Visit some magical grottoes and relax in the best scenic beauty of Vietnam. Lunch of fresh seafood is served on board. Return to Hanoi with stop-overs at ceramic and hand embroidery workshops en route. O/N in Hanoi.
Day 8: Excursion to Halong Bay (B, L)
Spend last minutes for downtown shopping (ceramics, silver-carvings, silk,...) or at leisure before check-out. Transfer to the airport for departure.
